Im 14 years old, I was only tested for dyslexia when I moved
into my secondry school.
My mum had thought I was dyslexic when I was at playgroup because I
learnt to spell my name and I always use to put the 'A' and the 'E' around
the wrong way and when I moved into my primary school they told my mum
I was just lazy. My mum didnt take it any further because she beleaved
they new best!
Then when I was in year 3 I wouldn't go to school because my teacher used to tell my I was lazy. So I ended up hating school, I had to put up with that teacher for 2 years and then I moved into year 5, to start with I didn't get on with the teacher until I broke my arm and he alway gave me sympahy (spelling) when i was strugling with my
work! and then i moved into year 6 and i thought my teacher was a right old
bag she alway used to pick on me when it came to reading or spelling and
I hated it then I had my SATs i found them really difficult and when i
got the results i was really embaressed because all my friends got a
higher marks than i did!
I then moved into the school I'm at now Portslade Community College I
like it there I have made loads of friends sense year 7 and I would like
to say a big thank you to all the teachers that help me in my morning
spelling class and a huge thanks to my bestest friend kayleigh and my
boyfriend luke for helping get through my problems and I know it's hard
to beleave but if u try hard enough and you're determind then things do
get easier so good luck to everyone who is trying

Daniel from Mansfield UK:
Hi,
I was assesed as dyslexic just over a year ago. I had always struggled
at school and everyone said I was lazy. I was always a good reader so
they said I couldn't be dyslexic!
Now we know what my problems are school is much better. I have a
brilliant teacher this year and I am doing my SATs this week. I'm not 11
until the end of August and I'm hoping to get a level 5 maths, level 5
science - and I'm taking the level 6 paper!! - and if I'm really lucky I'll
get a top level 3 or lower 4 for English. My reading (L5) helps to
bring up my L2 handwriting and spelling.
Don't give up, believe your family that they love you - even when you
have lots of rows and prove to everyone that Dyslexia = clever,
successful and Confident!
