I was having problems in first grade. I'm 8 now and I'm now in 3
grade. I found I had a problem with spelling. I went to a dyslexia
teacher who helped me. And now I am doing pretty well in school |
| I have always found learning hard. i didn't learn to speak properly untill i was 11 and i couldnt write till i was 12. i was dignosed with dyslexia when i was quiet young but the schools i went to didn't help me at all. thay thought dyslexia was another name for being thick. it wasn't untill i moved to oxford that they started to help me (and it did). i would like to thank them alot. i done my GCSE and manly got C's (that was a shock to me). i am doing a AVCE in health and social care at the moment. i am hopefully going on to uni to do a joint honers degree in crimanology and frensic science. | |

| I am 31 and I have just discovered I have a mild case of dyslexia. My whole life I couldn't understand why reading was so difficult for me - I was a very good student, but had to try much harder in classes where there was a lot of reading. I am currently working on my PhD in Information Systems. I guess what I'm saying is we can do well - we can succeed - we just need to keep our spirits up and keep trying! | |

| My name is Robert. I really like your web site. At my first primary school that I went to they did not recomise that I had dyslexia. But when I moved schools my second school did reconise it. They refered me a teacher in Darlington. He did some test and sent me twice a week to a specail school in Stockton for extra English leassons. Ever since, my English has just kept on improving!! | |

It was found out that I am dylexic when I was around 8 years old. I had a hard time at school and found reading a writing a problem. However, when I was 14 a teacher at my school took me under her wing and helped me though me GCSE's. I pass 6 abve C and went on to get a 2.1 degree at University. I now am a Design Engineer at a German company. P.S I hope my spelling is correct!! regards David |
| Hi... I went through all my Primary and Secondary school life just thinking that i was a bad speller, and i was always getting told that i was lazy. Then i started college in Sept 2002 and was asked by one of my teachers if i had ever been tested for dyslexia, which i had not. After only 2 weeks i found out that i was Dyslexic, now i have found out that i can get extra time in my exams, which will be a great help...But i can n't help to think what grades i could of got at GCSE if it was found out earlier. | |

I was found to be dyslexic in year 3 and from that point i started getting special help at school. But soon my parents had to struggle to get me more. In year 5 i started going to the Dyslexia Institute for special lessons after school. In year 6 I got a really bad teacher which did not help me at all. In spite of this I did very well in my SATS. But none of my friends seemed to realise how hard it was. In year seven I started going to the Ddat centre which has some very strange ideas about what causes dyslexia. They think the cerebellum is what causes dyslexia and they try to put it right. I stopped my DI lessons last christmas and I'm doing OK at school. The only thing I don't like is that lots of people could be dyslexic and they won't be noticed because they are intelligent too. My Mum has typed this in for me and spelled the words. |

I have been struggling at school and in my flute lessons with my
dexsleicia and my eye sight. My helper in my class has always thourght I
needed glasses but I didn't. But in one of my flute lessons my flute teacher said are the notes allover the page and i said yes. The next flute lesson my flute teacher had got me all my music printed on all diffrent coloues of card. The blue helped me a bit and then she said you could need coulerd leners so I got the name of the opticians and went for some appointment's. I have finely come to the colouer imitary and I am getting my glasses on the 27th of april and they will help me in class |
