Another fantastic holiday

It seems ages ago since I last updated my news page. It is now June and it is my birthday! I have just come back from Rome where I had a fantastic holiday with my parents. We saw amazing sites, the best were the Coloseum, the Patheon and Vatican City. We were really lucky as we managed to get tickets to hear the Pope speak in St Peter's Square. He actually passed right by us in his open carriage and I took this photo. Actually we did not listen to much of his speech as he spoke in about 60 different languages - instead we went to the Vatican museum. The Sistine Chapel was quite brilliant.

Back to School

Well it's back to school on Monday for the last half of this school year. We have exams although it is another year until I take my GCSEs. I am still trying to sort out my what I am allowed for my GCSEs - my Educational Physchologist report says that I should be allowed to use Microsoft Word and a Spellcheck which is how I actually work. Unfortunately it seems increasingly unlikely that I will be allowed this. I can vaguely understand why I cannot use my spellcheck in English but I can see absolutely no good reason in the other subjects. There also seems yo be a problems using Microsoft Word (even without the spellcheck installed) - I find this very annoying as I might want to draw a table or use sub or superscript. None of this can be done in Notepad or Wordpad. I am trying not to be worried about this.

I started school with a 'Statement of Special Educational Needs' and over the years I have developed a way of working that allows me to produce work that is easy to read with only a few spelling mistakes. I do this by touch typing and whenever I see a word that is underlined in red I use the spellchecker - if it does not recognise the word I have another go at spelling the word and then I repeat the procedure. This also corrects my many typing errors! I often include tables in my work and these I draw on Microsoft Word. I am very happy with this way of working and all I really wish for is to be allowed to work in this way in my GCSEs and then my A Levels. It does look as if I will be disappointed.
Not enough time!

I have been running my website for nearly 4 years and it really does take quite a long time - I also enjoy making software and climbing and having fun. My school work is quite demanding at the moment and I have somehow got to find more time! I won't let the website stop but if anyone has any good ideas please let me know. If you can think of any good quizzes or even the clues for new Country quizzes it would certainly help. I spend quite a long time thinking up new ones. I also always check all the messages before I upload them - this takes time but it does mean that no offensive messages get uploaded. Anyway this is just a plea for ideas as I do intend to enjoy life and not spend all my free time behind the computer screen! Please click here if you have any ideas - thank you
Raising some money

I received Ł500.00 for being a judge for The Yahoo Picks of the year 2003. I donated this to The Abbey School at Farnham which is a Special School and they have now bought a projector. They have also got a Smartboard and I am now busy making some interactive starters that can be used on the Sartboard!

My Software

I recently applied to Curriculum Online to try and get my software recognised so that schools could use their e learning credits to buy it. I have just heard that the software has passed their test and now they have to check my financial status. They have asked for my last 3 years of accounts but hopefully they will be happy with all my records and my bank statements. I have explained that I am only 14!
