Exams and Sunshine ahead
I have 22 exams to look forward to this summer but by the end of June they will all be over and there will be lots of time to do what I want.
I have recently come back from a week in France where we looked at the Landing Beaches and also visited the Memorial in Caen. This was an amazing museum about the years from the end of the First World War to the end of the Cold War. There was a particularly moving film about 'hope' which outlined how nations fought wars to achieve peace in the world, but how this did not happen and history just keeps repeating itself with new wars in different parts of the world. There was also a brilliant film about the D day landings. We spent 5 hours at the museum and it is definitely worth a visit.
I discovered that there is lots of climbing in France and I wish I had taken my climbing gear. In many of the towns they have climbing walls where you can just practise and I think there is also quite a lot of rock climbing. I wonder if anyone knows about this as I would like to climb on my next visit.
Later in the year we are going to Florida - I am hoping to learn to dive and do a course with my sister. We thought we might stay on Florida Keys but we haven't found any diving courses yet - if you know of any please let me know. We are flying to Miami.
I have continued to help at The Abbey School in my spare time as part of my 'Duke of Edinburgh Award'. I have recently helped install the new server and when they go back next term I hope to set up 'exchange' so that all the staff have email and can send internal memos and emails. The pupils will also be able to use the internal part of this and eventually they will also have their own email. I enjoy this work and also working with the pupils.
Revision seems to be ruling my life at the moment but I can see there is life after the exams although I suppose it won't be long before AS levels come. We certainly do have a very exam orientated education system. I can't wait to leave GCSEs behind as I can stop doing the subjects that I find hard. English has always been a struggle and although I have enjoyed bits of it I welcome the chance to stop writing all the essays! In History and RS I have really learnt loads but there is so much to learn and once again lots of essays to write. I have decided to choose double Maths, Physics and Chemistry for my A Levels and all being well I will stay on at Charterhouse to do them.
The Success Stories and the Message Board
The message board and the stories pages continue to go well but do please keep leaving messages and stories. I have just had a horrible shock as I have to pay for this site to be hosted etc. It is going to cost about £350 for the next year. Last year 'Internetters' hosted it and they sponsored the site but unfortunately they have been taken over by IOMART and they are so big that they are not interested in a site like mine. If you know of anyone who would like to pay for an advert on my site I would be really please as I can't really afford to just pay for this.
I still have my last newsletters and they can be read by clicking here. Also if you remember I used to have a news page, well I have put these back on, so please click here to go to them.
