• A fantastic holiday
  
  

  I have been really lucky as I have spent the last 3 weeks in South Africa - we spent one week in Cape Town, the next in Knysna and the last in George. We spent Christmas day on the beach but although it was brilliant fun it just was not like Christmas in England. Even before Christmas when we wandered round some of the shops there was hardly any mention of Christmas and barely a decoration in sight. I am now back in England and back at school!

  
  
  
• Updating my website
  

  I have always taken a pride in making sure that I keep 'I Am Dyslexic.com' up to date. On occasions I have got a bit behind but on the whole I update it regularly. I am sorry that the stories and the message board have not been updated over Christmas and the New Year period but I always read the messages / stories before I upload them - I do this to make sure the content is OK to put on the site. On occasions people write really rude and offensive messages and it would be most unsuitable if these were updated automatically. Luckily this is quite rare.

  
  
  

  Exam regulations

  I have now got my appointment booked with the Educational Psychologist during my February half term. I hope that the report will be helpful as I am quite worried about quite a few things. I wrote about these concerns in my last newsletter and you can read them by clicking here. I am sure lots of other people must have similar worries and when these can be solved so easily I just cannot understand why the exam boards are not more open minded.
  
  
• Raising some money
  
  Recently I was asked to be a judge for this years Yahoo Picks of the Year. I was very excited as I was also allowed to choose a charity to receive £500.00 - I immediately chose The Abbey School which is the Special School in Farnham where I am doing my Duke of Edinburgh Service. I think the money will go towards a projector for the Year 8 classroom and I am trying to add to this amount. A projector will make lots of difference as the students will be able to view material prepared on a computer and also suitable material direct from the internet or the school network. It was good fun judging the sites - I had never done anything like it before. My school gave me time off even though it was in the middle of school exams and I had to go to the Yahoo offices in London.

  At the end of last term we had school exams which luckily went OK. It is beginning to become very clear where my strengths and weaknesses lie - I am still a bit dissapointed that I am not taking IT GCSE and I am thinking of doing it in my spare time. I am enjoying all the subjects that I chose - I chose History instead of IT as the syllabus sounded interesting but I must say that IT would have been easier.
