PC WIZARD BARNABY'S HELP FOR DYSLEXICS

ST BEDE’S pupil Barnaby Blackburn has certainly got the write stuff - he has set up his own website to help youngsters with dyslexia.
Barnaby, 11, is severely dyslexic himself but a wizard on computers.
When he joined the school’s web site building activity he quickly learned the essentials of web page building and decided to set up his own site.
Barnaby’s website, called www.iamdyslexic.com, gives tips on spelling, information on dyslexia and a positive message of confidence to thousands of young people.
Barnaby has been at St Bede’s

for nearly two years. When he joined the school his parents promised him a laptop computer to use in lessons as soon as he could touch type.
Barnaby worked on a touch-typing course and soon earned himself an Apple iBook which he now uses in every lesson except maths.
"I am really lucky to have a laptop," said Barnaby.
"If you are dyslexic and you learn to touch type, a laptop like mine would give you the same chance as the rest of the class who can write and spell."
"I am really enjoying working on the website which has lots of hits every day."
"Keeping up with the e-mail is nearly a full time job."
