• Spent a term in France but still refused to go to school
  
• still major problems with speech but I practised hard with my mum
• we had all the Letterland tapes, videos and books and I learnt my letters - I remember these stories, I used to think they were really good
• major breakthrough when I learnt to say 'sea' instead of 'svee'

September 1994 - July 1998: Wedmore First School

Age 5

My headmaster gave very odd maths lessons with questions like "how many jumps do 6 frogs take to jump over 7 lilies?" The actual problem was this: There were 3 red frogs and 3 green frogs. There were 7 lily leaves all in a straight line. The 3 red frogs sat on the first 3 leaves and the 3 green frogs sat on the last 3 leaves. The middle leaf was empty. The frogs can move forwards or backwards on to another empty lily leaf. They can go on the next door leaf (if empty) or they can jump over one other frog on a leaf to the next leaf (if empty). The frogs have to change places with as few moves as possible. That is the red frogs are now on the last 3 lilies and the green frogs are on the first 3 lily leaves. What is fewest number of jumps you can make to complete this.

I started to get interested in computers September 1998: Hugh Sexeys School Blackford

Age 9

• I only spent one term at this school as we moved to Eastbourne at Christmas.
  
• I was put in a mixed year 5 class
• I called this school "colouring school" as we seemed to do loads of colouring and not much hard work - we decided it was lucky that I had been given a packet of new crayons before the term started.
• Our maths topic lessons which we did in our class groups seemed to be about cutting out, then pasting then colouring and putting on the wall - these lessons were not exciting.
• I was in the bottom spelling group with people with severe learning difficulties. I find it easy to learn a spelling list but impossible to remember to use the words when I write. In the second week I got into trouble for doing my test in code and had to write out each word 3 times even though my code was perfect. It was actually quite a good code. When I was asked to write bad I wrote cze, and when I had to write bag I wrote czh etc. I even wrote the code solution down but the teacher did not understand and I got 0/10. I have just found the book and this is what I wrote.
